Unanswered: Script for rename Oracle SID?

We are in need of a Unix/Solaris shell script that would rename the Oracle SID of our Oracle 9.2 database instance running on Solaris 8 platform. Does anyone know of a good shell script that I can customize to do this? Thanks!

Which "name" are you trying to change (& why)?
You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.

    rename SID

we are moving a copy of the database instance to another server as part of a replication activity and need to change the SID name for this reason. Besides using exp/imp utility and create new instance on the standby server is there another way to do this via a shell script? Thanks

    $ORACLE_HOME/rdbms/demo/case4.rcv
    # using RMAN duplicate; which can also rename the SID

Thumbs up in 9.2 you have a dbnewid utility.

in oracle 9.2 you have a utility dbnewid or nid which you
can use to rename as well change the id of the database.
