Unanswered: tnsping fails with Oracle 9iR2/Solaris 8

    Hi gurus,

We are having problems with our oracle tnsping with our Oracle 9.2 database running on Solaris 8. I can connect to SQLPLUS and get the listener running. We run RMAN so need dedicated connection which we setup still get errors:

    bash-2.03# tnsping oracle02

    Used parameter files:

    bash-2.03# cat sqlnet.ora

    Wink

oracle02 does not exist as an entry in your tnsnames.ora file!

    exactly as above.

you are not "ping"ing the HOST, you are TNSpinging the alias.

    tnsping RMTESTER

BTW - why are there 2 entries in tnsnames for rmtester? remove one of them.
