    Unanswered: ORA-12500 on Standby Database

I am a newbie to Oracle. I am attempting to set up a standby database. I believe I have everything configured correctly, but, when the primary attempts to archive the logs to the standby, or when you attempt to connect to the standby data base, you get ora-12500 errors.

This is a lab environment using downloaded Oracle 8i on Windows 2000. I am trying this so that when I get a job, hopefully, I will actually be able to do the work. Novel approach don't you think?

    Thanks for any assistance.
