    Unanswered: PGSQL 8.00 Win32 and FAT32/NTFS

    Hi,

I'm trying to install 8.0 to Windows XP Pro Fat32 system. But it gives error :
"Cacls can only be run on NTFS file system" or sth like that.
Should i install in *only* on Fat32 system?
This is very important to me!

    Thank you.

    Fat

I don't think so FAT does not have the limited requirements to
    get postgresql running stable

I think it was some kind of I/O problems but ask directly on the win32 dev list they can say you exactly whats going on

Proabably installer uses cacls.exe to set file permissions (ACL - access control lists). Finegrained permissions (by user, by group, by access type) are available on NTFS but not on FAT32.

Server should be run off the NFTS anyway since NTFS is way more intelligent and fault tolerant than FAT32.
