    Unanswered: ORA-12560 with createDB & svrmgrl ORA8i

    hi,

    platform windows2000 SP4, Oracle 8.1.7.4.1

we have a new W2K Server with terminal services already deinstalled and trying to build a database from scratch using either DBCA or scripts, but both still fail due to ORA-12560 ...
the metalink note says call it from the win2k console instead using terminal service; we deintalled the terminal service and the error messages is persisting...

any clues how to work around this error?
    help highly appreciated.

    Thanks

p.s. we're knowing 8i will be desupported in the near future, but our application still in use is not certified using ORA9+

    12560, 00000, "TNSrotocol adapter error"
// *Cause: A generic protocol adapter error occurred.
// *Action: Check addresses used for proper protocol specification. Before
// reporting this error, look at the error stack and check for lower level
// transport errors. For further details, turn on tracing and reexecute the
// operation. Turn off tracing when the operation is complete.

we had installed windows terminal server client sw and regarding to a metalink note 152003.1 that it is not supported. So we deinstalled it to fix

    fix:

Connecting to SVRMGRL is done by using the BEQUEATH protocol which is not
available using an MS Windows 2000 Terminal Server Client.

To startup the instance, use the the Windows 2000 console to connect to the
    SVRMGRL.

but some piece of software must be remaining...
because it is still thowing the error message

as the service was already built, I didn't care to delete and when I deleted and let build the service again though <SID>.bat script. When I did that the it is starting its task
