    Unanswered: SQL Mail

Is there a way to make SQL Server email someone nightly based on new additions to a database? I am using SQL Server 2000 in a network without a domain.

Do you have a mail server? Exchange works best, but I have successfully connected using other types of servers; it just isn't always 100% reliable.

You can try installing Outlook on your SQL Server and then following MS' instructions for configuring SQL Agent Mail and SQL Mail.

Alternatively, you can do a search on using SMTP components to replace SQL Mail and SQL Agent Mail. My favorite is vbSendMail (available for free from www.freevbcode.com). It requires significantly more coding, but it's robust (and free!).
