    do a keyword search on ORA-01555
    read, learn, apply

    This is one way is to combat this error: Make a script that does this for every rollback segment in your DB:

    set transaction use rollback segment <rbs>;
    -- Do some transaction like:
    insert into t values ('x');

    DO NOT COMMIT (or ROLLBACK) until you want to prevetn ORA-1555

    Be careful as this means that the rollback segments will not be recycled and they will grow, so will need wnough space in the tablespace where the rollback segs are.
