    Unanswered: Problem with memory.

    Hello Oracle DBAs..
We are working on HP-UX 11.0 and oracle 8.1.6.
I got a Problem with tablespace..
When I run a query thru oracle report builder I got an error.."ORA-01652 unable to extend temp segment by 3208 in tablespace LMDTEMP
    ORA-27059:skgfrsz:could not reduce file size.
HP-UX Error: file is too large."

When I tried to add the datafile to the LMDTEMP thru SQL+ it says "

    1 ALTER TABLESPACE lmdTEMP
    2 ADD DATAFILE
    3 '/u02/app/oracle/oradata/elx/lmdtemp02.dbf'
    4 size 500m autoextend on
    5* next 100m maxsize 500m
    SQL> /
    ALTER TABLESPACE lmdTEMP
    *
    ERROR at line 1:
ORA-19502: write error on file "/u02/app/oracle/oradata/elx/lmdtemp02.dbf", blockno 45825 (blocksize
    ORA-27072: skgfdisp: I/O error
HP-UX Error: 2: No such file or directory
    Additional information: 45825.

Could u please help me in resolving this problem.
    Thanking you.

    1. did you specify the full path correctly.
    2. check you have permission to create the file
    3. is it a raw disk? in which case you probably cant just create the file as you would on a normal FS.
    4. unlikely but you may have run out of space on the disk (but I would expect a different error)
