    Here is a free clue, since you installed both an Oracle DB & Developer on the same system, you now have 2 ORACLE_HOME trees.
    This means you have two TNSNAMES.ORA files.
    >I went to see if the listener was running
    I'm curious to know EXACTLY what command you invoked to check the listener.
    Which ORACLE_HOME was "active" when you did this "check"?
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
    The average person thinks he's above average!
    For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.
    Good judgement comes from experience. Experience comes from bad judgement.

    okay, how do I do a listener status? I believed that I tried that yesterday and it told me that it was running, but I still couldn't connect.

    I am able to connect to SQL via my Oracle Database, but what am I doing wrong? Do I need to get rid of a TNSnames file?

    Seems your listener is working just fine from the latest post output. Check your tnsnames.ora and the connect string on the 10g Forms. You have the following SERVICE_NAMEs the listener is listening for:

    Service "BEVE.COMCAST.NET" has 1 instance(s).
    Service "BEVEXDB.COMCAST.NET" has 1 instance(s).

    Post your tnsnames.ora file from the 10g Developer home. You have two homes - one for the DB and one for the Developer. You either don't have tnsnames.ora file in the Developer home, or this tnsnames.ora is not correct.

    Hope that helps,

    My TNSNAMES.ORA file from Developer

    # TNSNAMES.ORA Network Configuration File: F:\DevSuiteHome\NETWORK\ADMIN\tnsnames.ora

    (SERVICE_NAME = BEVE.COMCAST.NET)
    )
    )

    As I though - your tnsnames.ora is wrong. You are missing a right ")" for the ADDRESS_LIST clause. The right entry is below:

    Code:
    BEVE =
     (DESCRIPTION =
       (ADDRESS_LIST =
         (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = citniehsellers2.CIT.NIH.GOV)(PORT = 1521))
       )
       (CONNECT_DATA = (SERVER = DEDICATED)(SERVICE_NAME = BEVE.COMCAST.NET))
     )

    Hope that helps,

    I am still getting the ORA 12154 TNS:could not resolve service name.

    Which tnsnames.ora file should I edit? The one in the Oracle database or the one in Developer? should they be different?
