    Question Unanswered: convering access 2k to mysql

    MySQL ODBC 3.51, mysql-4.0.17, w2k server SP4, writing in ASP(vbscript)

    Im converting from using Access 2000 databases in several places to using MySQL. I have been changing my connection strings. now I have a problem that isn't quite so simple.

    this first block seems to be working correctly
    strSQL = "SELECT * From LINKS where Category=" & cat & " and show1 = 1 order by LINK_ID"
    Set objPagingRS = Server.CreateObject("ADODB.Recordset")
    objPagingRS.PageSize = iPageSize
    objPagingRS.CacheSize = iPageSize
    objPagingRS.Open strSQL, my_Conn, adOpenStatic, adLockReadOnly, adCmdText
    reccount = objPagingRS.recordcount
    iPageCount = objPagingRS.PageCount
    does some other nonrelated stuff

    then crashes here:
    objPagingRS.AbsolutePage = iPageCurrent
    giving error message:
    Error Type:
    ADODB.Recordset (0x800A0CB3)
    Object or provider is not capable of performing requested operation.
    im not sure if this is an odbc problem or a mysql problem but any help would be greatly apreatiated. thanks

    Lightbulb found solution

    after posting here I continued looking for a solution and found one. I figured I would post it here in case anyone else needed it.
    I found out that to use absolutepage (at least with MySql) I had to manualy set the cursor location to the client using
    my_conn.CursorLocation = adUseClient
