    Unanswered: Two PostgreSQL questions

    Is it possible to distribute an application (or several) on different database schema?

    How many simultaneous logins can PostgreSQL handle?

    Paritions as in HD partitions?

    I dont think so if i remember right its something that can be done in MSSQL to increase speed. But iirc wasnt that dividing whole database over several partitions?

    *edit* about the max users.. in postgresql.conf file standaard is 100 connections when you increase it:
    max_connections = 100
    # note: increasing max_connections costs about 500 bytes of shared
    # memory per connection slot, in addition to costs from shared_buffers
    # and max_locks_per_transaction.

    I have 'heard' ppl talking about having 250-300 connections at same time. But i have no experience with those numbers of connections tho.

    A remark to the connections

    archives.postgresql.org has about 400 Connections in a second
    and it runs scalable

    Don't think there will be problems with the database if there are more than 400 Connections
