    Unanswered: MySQL InnoDB database full backup

    Hello everybody

    Is there some sort of tool which can take a full warm backup of an InnoDB based database?

    look at mysqldump in the manual. it is included in your install of mysql. probably all you need.

    also u can copy the folder (folder name = db name). and put in the data folder of the mySQL installation path...thats how to restore (of course u have to use different name).

    That means that I can fully backup a database by just copying the <db name> folder on a DVD-RW?

    NO YOU CANNOT backup InnoDB database by just copying it. You can do this with MyISAM only. There are some bin files you'll need and their path is also important. Sorry, I don't have time now but later today I'll write full instruction how to dump innodb database.
