Unanswered: just install can't not login with sys/system password

I just complete insallation of Oracle 9i on RedHat 7.3. When I try to login
i will not let me login with my sys and system uerid and password.

Is there a way to reset this? I have not set anything yet.

I do not want to re-install Oracle again.

    Thanks.

    by default the pwds are
    sys/change_on_install
    system/manager

you can call orapwd to create a new one

did you set your environment variables correctly?
    export ORACLE_SID=<yourSid>

    did you try sqlplus /nolog
    >connect sys as sysdba

Try to use orapwd but need the password itself.

    orapwd
    Usage: orapwd file=<fname> password=<password> entries=<users>

    where
file - name of password file (mand),
password - password for SYS (mand),
entries - maximum number of distinct DBA and OPERs (opt),
There are no spaces around the equal-to (=) character.

The password you specify for ORAPWD is the new password, not the old one, so you can type in what you want.
