    Unanswered: ftp

I need to use a UNIX ftp script to transfer data from an FTP server to a UNIX box. I have access to one specific subfolder (folder2 in the command line below) on the FTP server. However, this code errored out -

    ftp -n \xxx.xxx.xxx.xx\folder1\folder2

"ftp: xxx.xxx.xxx.xxfolder1folder2 : Name or service not known"

When I tried to connect directly to the ftp server, it errored out like this -
    "Login Failed for User user1"

Is there any way to get around this problem?

    Thanks

    Hi deltacorvi,

what happens if you do all steps on command shell ?

does it works or not ?

    try :
    ftp hostname or IP( xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx)
    give user and pass
you will get the ftp prompt like -ftp >-

enter -?- to get help from ftp session

quit or bye will leave the ftp-session

If all that works please post again for more help in scripting.

Können wir jetzt auf Deutsch weiter machen ?
Can we talk now in german language?

    Hi,
when I use my ftp with a wrong password I get the same message, but I get
the ftp> prompt. Contact your administrator for the right user and pass.

If you use Unix, normaly there is a ftp-server installed. Try ftp to your local IP-adress with your user and pass on the local machine.

otherwise I have no more help for you.

    Auf ein wiederhören.
    Gruß Peter
