Unanswered: RMAN--how to back up databases

I'm trying to back up schemas using RMAN but I'm not getting anywhere:
I've created the user rman/rman and also the catalog. I have looked in google but not getting a clear instruction on how to do this.

I am now just using EXP feature on the cmd prompt to back up databases

Any ideas or script that would help me

    Cheers

A search on google for RMAN will turn up some good sites/notes, but you may have to sift through the dross to find them. The following script may also be of some help, as it gives examples of the various commands:

This web page is a step-by-step setup of the basic functionality of RMAN:

    Good luck!

90% of users' problems can be resolved by punching them - the other 10% by switching off their PCs.
