    Unanswered: Compact on Close

Is there a registry entry that I can use to enable this on client computers ? I have searched MS and Google and have not found anything on it.

We are using MS Access 2000, 2002 and 2003 on various desktop images and would like to set this on the ones that are already deployed.

As far as I know, it won't work that way.

Though the settings looks like an Access setting, it isn't. It's a setting for the individual database. You have to set this for each (new) database.

Wow, I hadn't noticed that before. Once again Microsoft shoots themselves in the head.

I was thrilled when Microsoft added the compact on close option until I deployed it on a shared PC. When the compaction takes place, a new database is actually created and therefore the user that is logged on to the machine at that time becomes the ‘owner’. No other user is able to open the database unless given permissions by the owner (or administrator).
Maybe this is why it is an individual database option.
