    Unanswered: Connect to OS/390 DB2 over JDBC

    Hi guys,

    I need your help.

    I try to write a program, which connects to a DB2 (V6 - V8) system running on OS/390, or z/OS. The program should performed from a pc (windows, linux, etc.).
    So I have some questions about this subject:

    1. Which driver should I use
    2. Where can I find a driver.
    3. How to connect to the DB2 System. Which interface I have to use (DDF???).

    It would be nice, if anyone can give me some hints, or a example how I have to realize this.

    Thanks in advance,
    Sven

    You need to license DB2 Connect to connect from LUW platforms ....
    Drivers to connect to the mainframe is provided by the db2 connect product ...

    JDBC-Drivers

    Hi Sven!

    I'm not a specialist with this, but I know the following:

    With our software (where accessing DB2 for z/OS V7 and V8 via JDBC-driver is an option) our developers encountered lots of problems (performance, functionality) with the following driver

    "driverClassName=COM.ibm.db2.jdbc.net.DB2Drive r"

    The moment it was substituted by

    "driverClassName=com.ibm.db2.jcc.DB2Driver"

    things were smooth in comparison.

    Don't know if that little bit helps, but I hope so.

    You will also need DDF set up on the mainframe. If that is not already in place, you may want to let the mainframe folks get started on that. It is not trivial.
