    Cool Unanswered: Web deployed 6i forms\8i database - upgrade to 9i

    Currently I have a web deployed 6i forms application using forms server on an 8i database .

    Shortly we will be upgrading the database to 9i .

    What are the quickest options to deploy the current 6i web deployed forms on 9i . Would it be to keep 8i installed on the server for this purpose only ?

    In the longer term we will be upgrading the app to use forms 9i but not at the current time

    Thanks

    This implies that you are running some flavor of Forms Server. Which version to 4 places?

    Forms (& Reports) really don't care what version the DB is running.

    Change the TNS alias to point to the 9i DB.

    It depends upon where the current data the forms will access resides.

    When that time comes, just recompile using the 9i compiler;
    but I STRONGLY suggest you avoid 9iAS like the plague
    and go straight to 10g & avoid a boatload of bugs in 9iAS R2.
    You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.

    For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    Thanks I need the 6i forms to access data in the 9i database . The 8i database will not be required ( can this be removed )
