    Exclamation Unanswered: RMAN Question

It appears that the DBA before me manually deleted RMAN backup files from disk. They still appear cataloged when I issue the list command in RMAN. They have been labeled as 'obsolete' but I cannot de-reference them in RMAN. Can I manually remove these rows from the RC_BACKUP_SET table or is this a bad idea?

    Thanks in advance,
    Andrew

    Wink

    Try:

    Code:
    DELETE OBSOLETE...
The person who says it can't be done should not interrupt the person doing it. -- Chinese proverb

I did try that. Its compiles then executes in about 5 seconds. But then they still appear. RMAN must not be able to de-reference a backup set without deleting it first. Any suggestions on how to get rid of this reference? Can I delete rows from RC_BACKUP_SET safely?

    Then try:
    Code:
    CROSSCHECK...
    DELETE EXPIRED...
