    Unanswered: Index Usage - Find unused indexes

    Can anyone tell me a good way to monitor which indexes are not being used? Over time, I'm sure there are extraneous indexes in our database, which I would like to get rid of.

    Any ideas would be appreciated.

    Thanks,
    Rob

    As a start you could have a look at this page:

    Try this query..

    Select INDEX_NAME,OWNER,INDEX_TYPE
    from DBA_INDEXES
    where STATUS='UNUSABLE';

    I am not sure, but may be, you have to use ANALYZE INDEX command..But before this just try the above query

    Thanks for the suggestions. Pati, I'm a huge fan of the profiler tool, unfortunately there are some "non-conforming" queries in the trace that cause the tool to bomb. I have a support incident open with MS right now, so hopefully they'll figure out a solution. In the meantime, I'll give Vaibhav's suggestion a try.
