    Exclamation Unanswered: Row Level Locking

Is it possible to determine whether a record in a table is currently locked by another user using VBA and DAO?

    Many thanks

Be aware that in an SQL database the concept of "locking a record" (so-called pessimistic locking) is frowned-upon. In the SQL world, the recommended strategy is optimistic, in which you strive to minimize the amount of time anything is actually "locked." Instead you check to see if anyone actually did make a change to the record since you last saw it ("optimistically" assuming that they didn't, instead of "pessimistically" assuming that they would-have unless you had prevented them).

This may not apply to you of course. Yes, there is a way to determine if a record is locked; I don't immediately remember what it is.
