    Exclamation Unanswered: CAN U HELP ME ?? MATRIX REPORTS ALIGNMENT PROBLEM...Sample Code given

    Had posted this problem last week also but NO SOLUTION CAME !!
    I am reposting it with a SAMPLE CODE (based on DEPT/EMP tables )

    Somebody please tell me how to keep the Matrix Total Column fixed at one place....at the end of the row, irrespective of the number of columns fetched in a Matrix-Group report.

    select 0 GP, e.empno, e.sal, e.job, e.sal, e.deptno, d.dname
    from emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    and (job = 'CLERK' or job = 'PRESIDENT')
    UNION
    select 1 GP, e.empno, e.sal, e.job, e.sal, e.deptno, d.dname
    from emp e, dept d
    where e.deptno = d.deptno
    and job = 'MANAGER'

    Generate the matrix report as:
    matrix-group-->GP
    Matrix-row-->DEPTNO
    Matrix-column -->JOB
    Matrix-cells-->SUM(SAL)

    ---->GROUP1__________SUM_AMT
    A_____1__3__5---------->||9||
    B_____2__0__2---------->||4||
    C_____1__1__0---------->||2||

    ---->GROUP2
    B_____1__5------------->||9||
    D_____3__1------------->||4||
    E_____0__4------------->||4||

    Thanks n Regds

    Apparently there aren't many Oracle Reports gurus on this forum! Have you tried the relevant forum on OTN?

    Having used Reports a bit in the past, I suspect the answer is that it can't be done: the total column will be positioned relative to the last column of the matrix, not relative to the page edge. This is analogous to asking for row totals to appear at the bottom of the page, rather than just under the last row of data - again, I don't think you can. (I may be wrong on both counts.)

    Maybe you can work around this by setting up some fake columns in your data to fill up the space?

    Did you try anchoring the total column for frame which should be fixed in size?

    Thanks everybody. Special thanks to Andrew, I will try Creating Dummy Columns and fix the number of columns. Let me see if Metalink has anything to offer on this.
