I'm developing my first app using oracle and java.
how do i convert the ip address from string representation to numeric format in java? i asked this question also on oracle forum and don't like the way it's done in oracle, so i decided to find out how it's done in java.
What would the numeric format look like, and why would you need this conversion? I always store IP addresses as a string, because they aren't a true number, and forcing them into one raises the potential for many problems.
