    Unanswered: Timeout

can any one explain the "Time out Expired" error message.

i get this message when i try to connect to the sql2k server via ODBC.
the most curious thing is that the error occurs randomly. once in a week or so.
pl suggest how to find out the reasons of this error
    Cheers....

This happens to me all the time the way i gopt round it using Access 2000
if you are running a query go to properties and set the ODBC timeout to 0,
This probably works for other apps too but ive only done it with access before

u can check the db configuration option (sp_configure), specifically on the 'remote query timeout' setting.

second, u can check your appl timeout settings.

one of these two will cause the timeout issue.
