Unanswered: A desktop and a Web application running off of the same Oracle database
i have this project i am working on and it consists of two parts, more like two different applications actually, a desktop application and a Web application. The desktop application will be installed on each user's machine and the Web application will be running on a Web server. Both of them will reading/writing to the same database though. So would i need to have two different database connection from the Oracle database to each of the two applications or what?
Also, let's say i have a per CPU license with unlimited users for my Oracle database. That would work fine for the Web application, but what about the desktop one? What exactly is a CPU? Does that include the CPUs on the server where the database is installed only or does it include the CPUs on every machine the desktop application is installed on as well?
