    Unanswered: SQL Procedures in Mainframe/AS400

    Hi
I am currently facing a lot of problems in writing Stored Procedures in Mainframe/AS400.
If anyone of you guys did it please tell me how to write procedures. Is it possible to write Procedures in PLSQL or I have to write it thru COBOL?

    Regards,

The easiest answer to your questions is:

    - Look up the manuals for your particular DBMS on AS/400

    ---

Normally the host of the DBMS supports differenent languages for writing Stored Procedures, and these days codename "Stinger" will support .NET, that means, you will be able to write Stored Procedures and Debug them in any .NET compatible language.

    ---

In our environment we use DB2 on z/OS and we write Stored Procedures in both COBOL, Java and ASM. With a small C compiler we may use JCL as well.

Many mainframe sites do use COBOL for Stored procedures ... There are people who use SQL PL also ..
You will need to have a C Compiler to create SQL PL procedures ... What SQL PL language features is supported is dependent on the Version of DB2 you are using ...
