    Unanswered: adding date range prompt

I'm trying to add a date prompt to a report i have already built. I figured out how to get it to prompt me for the beginning and ending date that i want, but when the report displays, it displays all the records in the database instead of limiting the results.

    Can someone help ???

    Its based off a table...

I'm using one of the pre-built databases that comes w/ access (Service Call management)

I don't think you can create parameter based off a table. You need to create a query then on your criteria you can do this: Between [Beginning Date] and [End Date].

Change the rowsource to a query

You can just pass in all of the values from the table to the query, change the datasource to a query then make the query parameterized query

In the criteria for the date field add this
    between #[Enter Start Date]# AND #[Enter Ending Date]#

    That should do it.

    Hi mjweyland,

It is not necessary to place the # before and after. Just the brackets for the dates in the query alone will suffice.

    prompting in query

If you want your query to prompt you for a beginning and ending date put this formula as it reads in your criteria:
Between [Type the beginning date:] And [Type the ending date:]

Then create your report off that query. Your report should automatically prompt you for a begin and end date.
