    Unanswered: Control file issue

What can corrupt an oracle control file?

Today I experienced a problem: my Oracle database became unavailable while I was creating and droping new empty tablespaces.
Suddenly, my database went down. When I issued the startup command, I received the message that a datafile (the one I just created and dropped) was not located.
Now, I broght the database open after backing up the control file.
But, what can explain this corruption in the control file?
    Does someone have any idea?

    RE : Control file issue

Creating or dropping tablespaces writes to control files. If the system crashed during this operation, your control file could have been left in a limbo state.

This could have also be caused by a disk failure.
