    Unanswered: Crosstab Criteria Error

    I made a simple cross-tab query..works like a charm
however, when i try to put a criteria in, e.g for the File Number like

[Forms]![Beautiful Form]![Combo4] iinto the criteria box, it gives me a nasty error saying "The Microsoft Jet Engine does not recognize [Forms!].... as a valid field or expression"

when i try to add that same criteria to that same to another base query, it works fine

when i type in the number into the criteria, it works fine too.. There is no discrepency between strings or integers here neither

As far as I know, you can't put a parameter [] in a crosstab query. I've never been able to get it to work for me, either. I have to make a table of the crosstab results and run another query with the needed parameter on it.

If someone else knows how to do this, I'd be interested to know as well.

i figured out a way around it...

in a module, you can write a function that will return the string you want to specify as the criteria, then call that function as ur criteria!
    lol simple enough

Another way is to have a table with just one record. Have your textbox update a field in that record and then add the table to your Crosstab. Use the field as your criteria.
