    <input type="text" size="5" name="pricestock" maxlength="4" value="<%=rst("price")%>">

By using code above the user will be able to change the data.

    Make your input box hidden
    <input type=hidden id=someid value=<%=somevalue%>>
and if you want to display the results to the user just use
    <%=somevalue%>

there is a enabled attribute (or is it disabled) that should do it...
    Code:
     <input type="text" size="5" name="pricestock" maxlength="4" value="<%=rst("price")%>" enabled="false">
    or
    Code:
     <input type="text" size="5" name="pricestock" maxlength="4" value="<%=rst("price")%>" disabled="true">
    actually could even be....
    Code:
     <input type="text" size="5" name="pricestock" maxlength="4" value="<%=rst("price")%>" readonly="true">
