Question Unanswered: Grouping Totals Help Needed!!!

    Hi all,

I'm hoping someone can help... it seems like there should be an easy way to do this, but I'm stumped. I've searched for help on the topic, but can't find exactly what I'm looking for.

I have a query that pulls in data from 2 different tables. I need to come up with a way to show a total for EACH project, and then add a total for each group of projects (subcouncil). It basically needs to look like this:

    ProjA1
    ProjA2
    ProjA3
    SUBTOTAL
    ProjB1
    ProjB2
    SUBTOTAL
    ProjC1
    ProjC2
    ProjC3
    SUBTOTAL
    TOTAL

The query will be exported to Excel and formatted there, but I need the subtotals/total to be rows, not add'l columns

    Any advice???

    Hi LindseyMichele,

I can think of two suggestions:

    1) Design a report on the query that includes subtotals. Export the results of the report to excel.

    or

    2) Use a union query: the dataset you have now unioned with a dataset of the subtotals. I'll be happy to provide a sample union query if you post the SQL of the query you're using now.

    Hope that helps,
    JT
