Exclamation Unanswered: Recordset is Read-only problem

I am converting an application from windows95 to XP. It was written in Visual C++ 5.0 and uses a Ms Access 97 database that resides on the user's pc.

I view the databases in the application, but when I try to generate a report or add/delete, I get the following error "Recordset is read-only". I have verifed that the security settings are correct and the tables are not read only.

I am not very familiar with C++ or Access. Can anyone please help?

Do you use ODBC or are your tables access ones?

Using ODBC! From what I can tell the recordset is a snapshot!

well snapshot is only readable, so you have to change it to a dbOpenDynaset or dbOpenTable, but take care if indexes are used which are not allowed with dynaset.
