Unanswered: Cannot update a table from a query??!!

I view a form that has a query as it's record source. The query works fine, the info displays great - BUT - I cannot edit any of the info.

Some extra info: the original query simply linked two tables with a 1:M relationship. When this was the case all worked fine, and I could edit/update the table/query from the form.

For a number of reasons I then redesigned the DB, so the '1:' table now has a subform (with a 1:M relationship with that table)

As soon as I add that subform to the query, bang!, I can't edit the data in the 'M:' table/query.

Does that make sense???!!! Please help
    Thanks

It seems that by setting the 'RecordSet' value on the form to 'Dynaset (Inconsistent Updates)' - it works!

I have no idea what this means, or what the impact is....but it works

Can anyone explain this setting to me?
