    Unanswered: Import data from 8.0.5 to 9.2.0

    Hi all,

    My previous oracle version was 8.0.5 on win2000 server and i have export data using the following code :


    Now we change our OS and Oracle version. Our new Server is RedHat Linux 9.0 and Oracle 9.2.0.

    Now i need to know how i Import all of my data from systemp.DMP file to my new server. and also How i can export from my new server.

    Please help me. and thanks in advance for your help.

    I don't know whether Linux / Windows / other OS Oracle versions differ, but I *guess* import and export utility should work the same ... therefore, issuing almost the same statement as you used during export would do the import as well:

    IMP username/password FILE=system.dmp FULL=Y

    If you've just created the database, username and password would be "sys"/"change_on_install".

    Of course considering the switch from Windoze to *nix, the pathnames for tablespaces will be somewhat problematic.
    I suspect that tablespaces will need to be maunally pre-created, prior to issuing the IMP command.
