Unanswered: Data Validation and Cut and Paste Problems

I'm setting up a spreadsheet for data entry, with some columns set to drop-down lists, etc. This works great if every record is manually typed in, but if one is cut and pasted of course the validation goes out the window as the cells are replaced. Is there a way around this? I don't want to disable cut and paste but maybe I could make a macro to emulate this process without ruining the data validation?

    Welcome to the board.

It depends on what you want to have happen. If you PasteSpecial, then the value will be in the cell, but the dropdown still exists. However, the dropdown will not incorporate that new value.

If you want it incorporated, then it is a much more complicated process. You will need to use a ComboBox (Control Toolbar), and you would need to update by including the new value in the drop down using VBA.
