    Unanswered: Forgot db2admin password

hi I have installed db2 v 7.1 fix pack 3 long time back on windows 2000 server. I forgot the password of DB2ADMIN and db2inst1. I changed the password of both db2admin and db2inst1 to something new using windows user maintenance.

Now When I am trying to acccess database thru java code it give following error.
SQL1032N No start database manager command was issued. SQLSTATE 57019

When I go to db2 command prompt
and give following comand db2start or db2admin start
    It gives me error
db2 service did not start due to a logon failure.
SQL1042C An unexpected error occured SQLSTATE=58004

How can I solve this problem. Will it be good idea to uninstall db2 completely and reinstall it. I do not have any live data in database any way.
I have to use this machine to host new application.

    Please help me out.
    Regards
    avl

Just giving you a idea, may be it will help you, I never used it , use the attach command to
change the password or set the password.

I guess reinstalling DB2 will help but there is an easier way to fix your problem. DB2 components on Windows run as services and use the instance owner login and password when starting up.

Go to the Services control panel, open properties for each DB2 service, and change db2inst1 (or whatever user) password on the "Log on" tab.
