Unanswered: see port 1521 outside db server

    Hello everybody,

I've got a little problem. I've installed 10g on my db server (Red Hat Enterprise), and it's all fine. I can connect to the database, etc, etc. The problem is that I can's see port 1521 outside my db server. I've run nmap on the server, and it's say's that port 1521 is running for the service oracle, but when I run nmap, from another machine to the db server I can't see port 1521 open.

    Any suggestions????

    Thanks.

no, there is no firewall between them. they are on the same network.

the telnet command gives me something like this:
    Trying 127.0.0.1...
    Connected to localhost.localdomain (127.0.0.1).
    Escape character is '^]'.

    and nothing more.

    any ideas?

    re: ups

    For example

    The Oracle10G server's hostname and ip adress is : oraclesrv / 10.10.10.2
Your other client's hostname and ip address is : otherclnt / 10.10.10.3

I assume your otherclnt is linux or like.

    You should try like that

    otherclnt:root # telnet 10.10.10.2 5555
    or
    otherclnt:root # telnet oraclesrv 5555

    You should see like that

    otherclnt:root # telnet 10.10.10.2 5555
    telnet 10.10.10.2 1521
    Trying...
    Connected to 10.10.10.2
    Escape character is '^]'.
