Question Unanswered: Weird thing happening with date field

I do not knwo what is happening with the date field. I need some help here.
On an form that I created that is used to create an Employee for a payroll system, I have a date field with a predetermined value off "=Date()", for some reason now evertime I create a new emplyee the date shows as "December 30 1899" , at firt I thought I had the system date screwed up, its not. tried every things I could thinks off but no change. Then I notice that when cliking on the field, instead of the date it showed the hour. "12:00:00am". What is going on, try changing date format, but still getting the time instead of date.. .This problem just started today, was fine before, and have not changed anything having to do with the date.

    Any ideas???
Need you help, thanks in advance

try using =date() for default value, set the input mask "DD"-"MM"-"YYYY" (not really necessary) and format as ShortDate

Emiel, thanks for responding but as you can see on my first post, I do have the default value of =Date().
