    Unanswered: jisql 2.0/linux setup swingall.jar

    Hello,
    Have installed ASE Express 12.5 for linux(suse 9.1) according to :
    http://enterprise.linux.com/article....&tid=94&tid=42
    It all went rather well. But now I am trying to invoke jisql, so as to have it ready for a demo, ideally Monday.
    isql works fine:
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> isql -S LINUX -U sa
    Password:
    1>
    but jisql not:
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> pwd
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql>./jisql -S LINUX:3312 -U sa
    Error while connecting to database:
    java.sql.SQLException JZ006 ..Connection refused.
    According to netstat port 3312 is not open.
    /opt/sybase/jutils-2_0/jisqlsybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> env | grep JDBC
    JDBC_HOME=/opt/sybase/jConnect-6_0
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> env | grep CLASS
    CLASSPATH=/opt/sybase/jConnect-6_0/classes/jconn3.jar
    If I add jisql.jar to the CLASSPATH then I get different err msg:
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> env | grep CLASS
    CLASSPATH=/opt/sybase/jConnect-6_0/classes/jconn3.jar;/opt/sybase/jutils-2_0/jisql/jisql.jar

    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> ./jisql -S LINUX:3312 -U sa
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sybase/jisql/util/CheckEnvironment
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com/sybase/jisql/Jisql
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> ls -l /opt/sybase/jConnect-6_0/classes/jconn3.jar
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 sybase sybase 944135 2004-02-28 06:04 /opt/sybase/jConnect-6_0/classes/jconn3.jar
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> ls -l /opt/sybase/jutils-2_0/jisql/jisql.jar
    -rw-r--r-- 1 sybase sybase 237214 2004-02-27 22:41 /opt/sybase/jutils-2_0/jisql/jisql.jar
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> locate CheckEnvironment
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> locate Jisql
    /opt/notsysbase/installed/Jisql-2_0.xml
    /opt/sybase/installed/Jisql-2_0.xml
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> vi /opt/sybase/installed/Jisql-2_0.xml
    The Jisql README says I should also put swingall.jar in the CLASSPATH
    But I do not have swingall.jar on the server:
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> rpm -q java2
    java2-1.4.2-129
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> rpm -q java2-jre
    java2-jre-1.4.2-129
    Could someone offer advice on how to proceed?
    (URLs to manuals also good!

    TIA

    Tony

    ASE 12.5 jisql

    Hello,
    I have sorted my CLASSPATH syntax and from the Internet discovered that swing lives in rt.jar.
    sybase@linux:~/jutils-2_0/jisql> echo $CLASSPATH
    /opt/sybase/jConnect-6_0/classes/jconn3.jar:/opt/sybase/jutils-2_0/jisql/jisql.jar:/opt/sybase/shared-1_0/JRE-1_3/lib/rt.jar
    However I still get the "Connection refused" error message.
    Any help appreciated...
    TIA

    Tony
