Unanswered: multiple currencues in a single table item

I have an existing application in Access which has a table with an amount field which is defined as currency. The client now requires the amount field to accept sterling, euro and dollar values. I can modify the format on the form to display euro or sterling but when the value is updated to the table and used in reports it always displays as 's. Is there a way to make the field hold multiple formats of data or would it be better to make it a text field and do the formatting before updating the field.

You might consider adding a field to your table that is the currency type. That way you can still do calculations on the dollar fields. You can also make so when you adding values together you are only adding dollars to dollars and euros to euros. Then use the currency type to determine the format.
