Red face Unanswered: "China" signs in my data

Can anyone tell me why one record in my table suddenly changes to "Chinese"
What can I do to prevent this in the future?

Please have a look at the attached picture.

    Sincerely

is it always the sixth record that changes ? if so than it could be some disk problem. make a copy of the dbase, rename both so that the copy will have the original name and don´t delete the (renamed) original. Or do a surface scan of the disk. I have encoutered a prob like this, and i solved it this way. hope it helps.

    Unhappy "Chinese" record not found

    Hi
No, it's not the sixth record. (this was a example from a query)
If I try to delete it, it says "Record not found"
If I try to add a record with the original keys, it says "Record already exist" :-/

What I did was to repair and compress the database. Then the "Chinese" record disappeared and I was able to insert the record from a backup table)

BUT WHY does this happen? You launched the idea of bad disk sectors. Does anyone else support this theory?

    Sincerely
