    Question Unanswered: Debugging Techniques ??

    Hi All,
Can anyone help me to elaborate the methods of debugging the PL/SQL codes? Since we all know the simple technique using DBMS_OUTPUT package but for large code, it is very cumbersome to use that.

How about if you use a real PL/SQL editor ? Oracle has one, called PL/SQL editor that comes with their Developer suite. I, for one, like PL/SQL Developer.

    Thanks dear,
Actually I am wondering with in the Oracle itself, as I already know there are lots of tools to do so like JDeveloper, Toad and many more. But I want to know more about the Oracle supplied packages except DBMS_OUTPUT and DBMS_DEBUG (which is likely used to build PL/SQL debuggers) and also other techniques or we can say methodology for PL/SQL code debugging.

You could try Tom Kyte's debug package. I haven't used it myself, but most things Tom Kyte advises are good.

I'll second that vote for PL/SQL Developer.

Oracle JDeveloper has a great debugger, but since it's really a Java IDE with a PL/SQL interface tacked on as an afterthought I can't really recommend it.
