    Unanswered: formating date

    in pl/sql, given a string eg(30/10/2004) how am i going to know that it is a valid date?
    every one know that not every feb got 29 day. it happen once every 4 yr.. how can i know that the string of date i have is a valid date?

    Simple solution that I can think of is to apply TO_DATE function and see if it returns errors and provide error handling routines.

    TO_DATE('30/10/2004','DD/MM/YYYY')

    den if the person key in 30/10/9999 is it still vaid?
    everyone knows that year 9999 is so impossible..

    30/10/9999 is a valid date.


    We will all be dead, but it is still valid.

    hmmm.... maybe i ownself declare a range..
