Hello All,

I am using an Access query, or can export the data into Excel (would prefer to do this in an Access query) and I am trying to subtract one date & time from another so that I can then total the differences to gather an average and need some assistance. Here is an example of the fields and data and what I expect my results to be.

Item# - SubmitDate\Time - CloseDate\Time
121234 - 7/30/2004 9:00 A.M. - 7/31/2004 9:14 A.M.

I would like to put an expression in another field that would find the time between Submit and Close Date\Time. I would expect the result of the above to be 24 hours and 14 minutes.

I was able to use the expression in Excel TEXT(D2-C2, "h:mm:ss") which sort of works. It provides me with the time difference but does not take account of the date, so for the example above, the result I get is 14 minutes.

Also, if I can get the above to calculate the difference as I would expect, I need to have the ability to sum all of the time differences - I tried using the sum function, but just get zero's so I assume there needs to be some specific function for summing times.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
