    Unanswered: database administrator in oracle 9i

    Hi all

    I'm new in oracle 9i on linux. Is there any GUI for oracle Administrative tools (like oracle 8.0.5 on NT). If any then How i activate and use it.

    i want to modify user profile.

    While the Gui OEM will do what you want, I would suggest that you learn the under laying commands by looking in the oracle sql reference manual. Learning to use a qui does not in any way teach you how to use the commands and their will be times when the gui may not be available. Just my 2 cents.

    When you run a qui tool, it is actually creating a sql command string behind the scenes and sending the command to the oracle database. The link to the 9I SQL manual that describes all the commands is:

    Toad is a nice product, but I still think that any DBA worth their salt should know the actual commands to do the work. If you don't and your sitting on the server one day and toad isn't installed there, you are in deep, deep trouble.
