    Smile Unanswered: Calling a packaged procedure from ux

    Hello:

    I have been asked to call an oracle procedure from an sh script. I am not passing or expecting any values from the procedure...we just want to call it and execute it. However when I run the script nothing happens.....the job just idles. (I am able to log on through my sqlplus session and type exec package.procedure and it works....) Suggestions as to what I may be doing wrong?

    `sqlplus -s user/pword@dbname << EOF
    exec package.procedure;
    exit;
    EOF`

    Regards,
    Milenko

    eliminate the single ticks as the 1st and last characters.

    Ok your suggestion worked! Now If I was passing a valueto the procedure or expecting a value back to the script then I would use the ticks, correct? Could you explain to me why the ticks did not allow the oracle packaged procedure not to execute?
