Unhappy Unanswered: How to create an Oracle 9i client package for Solaris

    Okay,

I am in a hurry , I have to create an Oracle 9i package that will provide some of our application sites (which don't have oracle server installed) to connect to a remote database.

Can anybody tell me how to do that, where to start or is there a package already available somewhere out there .

    I'll appreciate any comments.

    Hi,

install an Oracle client on local machines. Create an entry in TNSNAMES.ORA (c:\<Orahome>\network\admin\tnsnames.ora) to point to the database they need.

I fear you will start to come across network/firewall/routing issues which are a network, not Oracle problem.

Please don't email me directly with questions. I've probably just got home from the pub and cannot guarantee the sanity of my answers. In fact, I can't believe I actually made it home.

install Oracle 9i client on local machines...
    that's what I 'm trying to do.

I need to create a nOracle 9i client package (with pkgmap and so on, for Solaris) so that I will send the sites to install it on local machines...
