We have a Win2K server running multiple instances of Sybase
ASE 12.5.1 server (in order to isolate each of our clients
on their own environment).

We attempted to add a new Sybase server instance using the
Server Config tool (something we've done loads of times
before!).

Upon attempting to add a new instance using the Server
Config tool it:
1) Created the master device (master.dat appeared correctly)
2) Created the Windows service
3) Gave an error message:

"SERVER ERROR: Failed to boot server '<servername>'"

Before and after rebooting the Sybase SQL Server service for
TIIACREF would then fail to start.

We tried recreating the server using different port numbers,
different drives for the master device and a different name.
We also tried deleting an existing Sybase instance and
recreating it. All failed with the above problem.

I've attached install log at the bottom. It seems to finish
with a core dump/stack trace of sorts. None of the errors
are very helpful, and no mention of this can be found on the
Sybase support web site.

Can anyone help me and avoid me having to rebuild the entire
box?

Thanks!
