    Unanswered: SQL DB Restore Error

I am getting an error when trying to restore a database. The file names and paths look to be correct. The error states that there is insufficient disk space, but the database being restored is 1.4GB and the amount of space on that drive is 17GB, so this should not be an issue. Does any one have any ideas?

I am making an assumption that you are seeing the backup file is 1.4 GB. Try this: Take a look at the file sizes inside the backup file by looking at the size column in
    Code:
restore filelistonly from [your device here]
It may be that there is an extra file that is being restored to a small disk, or the database had a lot of empty space when it was backed up last.

If the backup device shows in Enterprise Manager (Server->Management->Backup) then you can right-click on the backup device, select properties, and get the contents of the backup file in bytes. If you run the above command in Query Analyzer, you will get more specific information about the database that was backed up. Hope this helps.
