Unanswered: install probs with oracle database 10g

hi im having real trouble attempting to install 10g. my system meets reqirements specified in the documentation, i have Atholn 500, & 400megRAM & os = WIN2K SP4. + java SDK 1.42.

when i get to inital installer screen, thats when probs start, for some reason when i specify personal edition (or either edition for that matter) the screen sort of crashes, or distorts (even when i press the help button the same problems occur). i then when i click 'next' the following screen i see is:

abnormal program termination. An internal error has occured. Please provide the following files to Oracle support:

    'Unknown'
    'Unknown'
    'Unknown'

does anyone have some exp with what im dealing with or some advice/pointers in the right direction. im really at my witts end!

You can lead some folks to knowledge, but you can not make them think.
The average person thinks he's above average!
For most folks, they don't know, what they don't know.

    OUI is a Java utility.
I have seen cases in the distant past where OUI malfunctioned when the PC had an incompatible version of Java installed on it.
I've also seen cases where JInitiator malfunctioned for similar reasons.

    HTH & YMMV
